Snow, snow, and more snow!

  • Feeling: Cold cause the fire isn't starting darn it.
  • Background noise: The Tony Danza show I think.
  • Weather: 19 degrees, but the sun is melting some of the snow!

Yesterday my husband woke me up at 5am to say it was snowing, and that there was quite a bit on the ground already. It had been snowing all night since some time after I went to bed, after midnight. There were at least 3 inches on the ground, probably more. Wow, shock, amazment, surprise. We'd had threats of snow a few times so far, but no more then flurries. Ha, that was when we lived in Philly. They don't get much snow. Carthage is a different story. It snowed the entire day yesterday, and some more during last night. There is probably somewhere around 6 inches of snow. It looks like more, but doesn't it always?

This pic was taken around 5am.

These next 2 were taken around 3:30 in the afternoon.

That's what it looked like when I had to walk to the bus stop to get the kids. School was on a 2 hour delay yesterday. In southern states, snow like this would have shut down schools for the week. They have no idea what snow plows are down there, and I can say that cause I grew up in the south. The city is really good here about getting the plows out, and clearing the roads. They came by several times yesterday, and again early this morning. We were so NOT prepared for this snow already. We have a brand new snow blower that still had the manual attached, and no gas or oil inside. The kids only have knit gloves, not the good waterproof insulated ones. We don't have snow boots, I can't button my coat over my pregnant belly! haha Dale is the only one who has winter gear and that's because the Army issued it to him. We don't even own a snow shovel yet. LOL Do you know what we're doing this weekend? Shopping, ya think? I'm not buying a maturnity coat though, cause I'll only need it for another 3 weeks.

Wow, yeah, that's right. Only 3 weeks to go. My c-section is scheduled for Dec 13th. I'm not ready for that either. I'm ready to not be pregnant anymore though. This has been a hard pregnancy. A bazillion doctor visits, baby sitting on my bladder the entire last 4 months, and kicks so hard I feel like he's going to bust out any second. Honestly, they have really hurt, and he almost never stops moving. They laugh about him when I go in for NST's. The last one I had to go have an ultrasound done because he wouldn't sit still long enough to get a good heart rate strip on him.

Last week we all dealt with the flu here. Yep, the nasty stomach flu. It started with Matthew in the middle of the night. He said he didn't feel good, and I knew I should have given him a bucket to sleep with. He was so sick that he didn't even get out of bed, or lean over the side. Nope, just puked all over himself, didn't make a sound, and went back to sleep. When I got up around 2am to potty I found him covered in puke. Gross! Cleaned him up as best I could in the middle of the night, and we all went back to sleep. The next day our neighbors from Philly were coming to see the house. I warned them we might have a virus, but they came anyway. Right before they showed up it was Caitlin's turn to get sick. My 6 year old baby girl normally just puked, gets it done with, and carries on like nothing happened. Not this time. The poor child made so many trips to the bathroom. Then she layed around all day. I felt really bad for her. That night it was mine and Dale's turn. He started around 1:30, then me at around 5. Dale had not puked in over 20 years, since before he joined the Army. He was a major baby through this virus, but I think he kinda had a right to be. What a miserable family we were on our long Veteran's Day weekend. I wasn't even well enough by Sunday night to give the kids a bath for Monday school. They stayed home, and were almost perfect angels while Dale and I layed on the couch moaning and groaning all day.

Well, I need to take the dogs out, and let them play in the snow for a few minutes. Then I'm going to consider using a regular shovel to clean the bottom of the driveway and go to Lowe's. My new dishwasher has been in for 3 days, and I'm anxious to pick it up. Plus we are out of a few essentials. I guess I'll add dog food to the list since the dogs think that's an essential. I also need paint for the baby's room now that the crib set and decorations I bought through ebay have arrived! Yay!

NOTE: This entry is also posted at my other journal.

5 I've been dazzled!.

Hi hon,
It is really good to see you back around. I have been wondering about you. I hate that you all had the flu but hopefully you are all back to 100% now. Only 3 more weeks left! Yipee! I will be thinking about you.
Take care,
Aidan

Hey girl! Wow, a C-section soon....my best to you and the baby with a speedy recovery! As far as the dough, I kept mine in the fridge in plastic wrap. Set it out to soften it up ahead of time so it will be easier to use once you are ready. I have to agree, the people around here are very rude...is it just me or are they getting worse as time goes on??? I dread going to Walmart, they will run you over and not think twice! My sis also married military and is stationed in Ga at Ft. Benning. I miss her so much. Her hubby was in Korea for 2 years and then Iraq for a year. He may be going to Drill Sgt. school in June or so, and not sure if they will stay in Ga. I wish she would come back here! Or at least to SC since that would be closer! She's my best friend.

How are you feeling? Congrats on your new baby to be. Both you, your baby and your family will be in my thoughts! Get as much rest as possible (yeah, right!!).

Hi hon,
I hope that this finds you and yours doing well! So there will be the sounds and smells of a new lil bundle in a few. I am so excited for you! I can't wait to hear of the lil angels arrival!
Thanks for the comment hon. I too would have left but we had no way to leave at that time. Wendy came and picked us up and took us to her house. Unfortunately there wasn't a bus stop, phone or any way for us to leave. We will not be going back to stay for any but limited time and never without an alternate way home that we can leave at any time. I just don't get her at all.
Take care,
Aidan

Hey Kathy, I love snow but in the UK the whole world stops, we are never ready for it, two days ago people had to sleep in their cars as the government forgot to grit the roads. Our cars can't cope, nor can the trains. I'm glad to be in sunny Indonesia.

December 13th, not far away at all! How have you been sleeping? Are you anxious? I'm so happy for you, and I'm happy for this unborn child because that child has such a sweet and loving mom.
