The Waddle, and Yesterday's Ultrasound

  • Background noise: The Ellen Show, I don't know why I haven't changed the channel yet.
  • Weather: Still raining. It's been over a week straight now.

I have realized there are 2 reasons pregnant women waddle. Some will tell you that they waddle because they are suddenly carrying weight out front that wasn’t there before. That isn’t true, because this weight does not just grow over night, although in some cases one might feel as though it just appeared out of thin air. Especially young, unwed mothers in denial.

Well, here are the 2 reasons pregnant women waddle:

  1. We are now wearing bigger pants and must walk, or waddle as you will, to keep them up where they belong. You see, we buy bigger pants, and they may be maturnity or they may be just a bigger size, but they will never fit properly, and will “walk” their way down our ill gotten hips if we do not waddle just right to keep them up.
  2. The second reason we waddle is because our thighs are clinched tightly to keep urine from trickling down our legs as we rush to the bathroom every 5 minutes. This is very true. I have forgotten how long a pack of toilet paper used to last in my house. Currently we are lucky if a 12 double size roll pack lasts a week. I think I’ll buy stock in the Northern Toilet Paper company.

I had another ultrasound yesterday. The doctor thought the baby might be growing faster then he should. Well, turns out I am 29 weeks today, and the baby is measuring 31 weeks. The amniotic fluid is also measuring 31 weeks. I’m not sure what this means or if the doc will change my dates. All the docs agree they want to deliver the baby at 36 weeks so I don’t go into labor at all, so I’m thinking we might be looking at a Thanksgiving baby. That would a OK with me. As it stands now, if we stay in NY until he starts school, and he is born the first week of December, he’ll be a whole year behind most of the other kids. The cut off date here is Dec 1st, so it would be perfect if he could be born before then. Anyway, I may have a few more answers next week, after my next appointment.

Here is the profile of the baby. This was taken yesterday. There are dots in the picture because I put it in my purse, and unfortunately it stuck to my wallet. It's also a little blurry, but that's the quality of the machine they used. If you look closely it looks like he's blowing a bubble. Oh, and yes, he is still a boy. hehe The ultrasound tech joked that it *could* be a girl, but she'd have extra parts. LOL

10 I've been dazzled!.

I'm jealous, Kathy! I'm feeling the baby bug more often, now. *sigh*

...I can't wait to meet him. What a special time of year for him to be born, as well.

Mercuda, you are too funny! ;)

Thanks for coming by Marsha. I left a message at your site, and called you Martha. Sorry 'bout that.

Donna, I wish we lived closer to each other so you could visit and itch that baby bug on mine. :)

Adi, the first place, and most often place I visit during the day is the bathroom. Maybe I should have those pics taped to the mirror! LOL

Ohhh! How precious!! I am want another baby!!

You know, I didn't realize I was "waddling" until my hubby and some church people pointed it out.

My pastor's wife had giggled that from behind you couldn't tell I was pregnant, but when I turned around, I was huuuuge!!

Maybe I will scan some pictures to show you just exactly how huge I was. Not!

You are right on all counts where the waddling is concerned. I had another reason...my pelvic bones hurt so bad I really couldn't walk really well. I felt like I was just a rattly bag of bones and everything was going to fall out if I walked too fast. I do not miss that part. I wish they would do a 4D ultrasound on your little guy! Those are awesome.

The ultrasound pic is wonderful! It does look like he is blowing a bubble doesn't it? How funny!

Agreed on the waddle. We're pretty sure there will be another little one at some point, which means another few months of the waddle. I'm not looking forward to that.... Best of luck on the baby and the house closing!

AWE!!!!!! I love the ultrasound pic! It is always possible that they got your dates mixed up. I have seen that happen to a few friends of mine and it is only an estimate. LOL I hope that this finds you doing well!
Take care,
Aidan
